Chronicle is a private journal and emotion-tracking app built on one core promise: your personal entries never leave your device. This policy explains what data Chronicle stores, what it sends, and what it does not — in plain language.

  1. Data We Store on Your Device Everything you write in Chronicle — your journal entries, emotions, attached photos, collected items, and custom tags — is stored locally on your iPhone inside the app’s sandboxed storage. We do not have access to it. We do not have a server where it is backed up. If you delete the app, your data is deleted with it.
  2. Data That Leaves Your Device (Only When You Ask) Chronicle does not automatically sync, upload, or share any of your journal content. The only data that ever leaves your device is information you explicitly choose to send, and only when you tap "Send":

Feedback and inquiries — When you submit a message through the in-app support form (via Settings → Support Chronicle), the message text, submission type, any attached images, and your app version are sent to our feedback service at pocket.changshin.vn so we can read and respond. Item requests — When you suggest a new item to add to the app, the item name, the description you wrote, and your app version are sent to the same service. That is the only outbound data. No journal entries, emotions, photos, or personal reflections are ever transmitted to us — not for analytics, not for backup, not for AI training, and not for any reason.

  1. Apple Intelligence (On-Device) Chronicle can use Apple Intelligence to help you refine your writing. This feature runs entirely on your device using Apple’s on-device Foundation Models framework. Your text is processed locally, is never sent to Apple or to us, and does not leave your iPhone. The feature is off by default and only activates if you turn it on in Settings.
  2. Photos You Attach Photos you add to a journal entry are stored inside the app, in the same local sandbox as your entries. We do not upload them, read them remotely, or access your broader Photos library — we only see the images you pick inside the app.
  3. Location Chronicle does not request or collect your location. We do not track where you are, where you have been, or where entries are written from.
  4. Analytics and Tracking Chronicle does not use third-party analytics, ad networks, or tracking SDKs. There are no Facebook or Google trackers, no crash-reporting services that collect personal data, and no behavioral profiling. We do not sell your data. We do not have it to sell.
  5. Children Chronicle is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.
  6. Your Rights and Choices Access & export — Your data is yours. It lives in the app, and you can read it at any time. Delete — Deleting the app removes all your data permanently. You can also delete individual entries from within the app at any time. Opt out of Apple Intelligence — You can disable Apple Intelligence at any time in Settings, on a per-app basis, or at the system level.
  7. Security Your data is protected by iOS’s app sandbox, the same security layer that protects banking apps and password managers. We use Apple’s standard data-protection entitlements; entries are protected by the device passcode and Face/Touch ID. Because data never leaves your device, the risk of a server-side breach does not apply to your journal content.
  8. Changes to This Policy If we make any material changes to how we handle your data, we will update this page and bump the "Last updated" date at the top. Because we do not collect your data, most changes to Chronicle will not require a privacy update.
